As mentioned in the previous slide, the main functions of the maxillary premolar teeth include food chewing, grasping, grinding, and crushing.

The 1st maxillary premolars have the following numbers according to each notation system:

• 5 and 12 (Universal Tooth Numbering System)

• 14 and 24 (ISO system)

• 4 ┘ and 4└ (Palmer system)

The numbers of the 2nd maxillary premolars are as follows:

• 4 and 13 (Universal Tooth Numbering System)

• 15 and 25 (ISO system)

• 5 ┘ and 5└ (Palmer system)
