Pectoralis minor muscle

The pectoralis minor is one of the most superficial anterior thoracic muscles, located deep only to the pectoralis major muscle.

Origin: anterior surface and costal cartilage of ribs III-V.

Insertion: medial border of scapula and coracoid process.

Function: draws the scapula anteroinferiorly, stabilizes the scapula on the thoracic wall.

Innervation: medial and lateral pectoral nerve (C5-T1).
