The anterior triangle is a region located on the front side of the neck. The boundaries of this triangle are:

• Superiorly - the inferior border of the mandible (jawbone);
• Laterally - the anterior border of the sternocleidomastoid;
• Medially - the sagittal line down the midline of the neck.

A deep fascia (or investing fascia) covers the roof of the triangle, while a visceral fascia covers the floor.

The anterior triangle can be further subdivided into four triangles:

• Carotid triangle 
• Muscular triangle
• Submandibular triangle
• Submental triangle
